SPEL’s net profits up 46% (YOY) |

SPEL Semiconductor Limited, India’s
first & only Semiconductor IC Assembly & Test Company, has reported a
46% increase in its net profit as compared to the profit of previous
year after removing the extraneous income. |

|
Announcing its annual audited results,
SPEL reported sales of Rs. 538.97 million (Previous year Rs 462.85
million) with a net profit of Rs.39.12 million. While the revenues have
grown by 16%, (the net profit has to be compared with operating profits
for last year after removing other Income of Rs 31.47 million which
comes to Rs 26.62 million in 2005-06 ). Hence, the operating profit has
increased by 46% over the previous FY. |

SPEL introduced 2 new package lines
that are currently seeing an increased momentum. SPEL commissioned the
state–of-the-art LMP package in the FY 2006-07, as part of its growth
plan, production of which has commissioned as scheduled. This has
considerably increased its attractiveness. Installation of Micro thin
LMP (with an investment of $2.2 Million) was done in Feb 2007 and the
same will be ready for production by July 2007. Apart from these SPEL
has also invested $5.5 Million on expanding its existing package lines. |

The strong demand experienced by
SPEL’s existing Customers and infusion of new package lines fuel
expectation for this growth trend to continue in FY 2007-08 also.
The FY 2006-07 saw SPEL gain tremendous momentum which was reflected not
only in its increases sales & revenues but also in new Customers,
Partners, & new business opportunities. |
