Mr. Ar Rm Arun, Vice Chairman, SPEL Semiconductor Limited presented the Theme address at CeTIT 2009 (Citizen Empowerment through Information Technology), a 2day conference cum exhibition on eGovernance. The event was organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Tamil Nadu State Council (TNSC) in association with State IT Department.

Facilitating the initiative towards synergistic utilization of IT as an enabling tool for efficiency and effectiveness in public administration, Mr. Arun encouraged constitutional bodies to adopt eGovernance as a tool for more effective service delivery are some of the other objectives. In his presentation, he presented the Global & Indian scenario of how eGovernance has been implemented. As part of his recommendations, Mr. Arun also presented Tele-Presence as a viable tool that can be used to create a greener eGovernance model.

CeTIT 2009 was inaugurated by Tmt. Poongothai Aladi Aruna, Hon’ble Minister for IT, TN along with Mr. P W C Davidar, IAS, IT Secretary, Govt. of TN and Dr. Santosh Babu IAS, MD, ELCOT. The conference was attended by over 400 delegates including Government officials from various departments, IT professionals from different companies, IT solution providers, Banks, Trade promotion bodies, technical experts, & research institutions.

As convenor of the IT panel of FICCI TNSC, he spear headed the initiative with the aim of creating awareness on harnessing advances in IT and opportunities available. CeTIT 2009 showcased over 20 International Speakers. The Exhibition was home to 20 stalls from Government & IT Companies. FICCI with help of Ernst & Young, the knowledge partners for CeTIT 2009 presented a handbook on the current state of eGovernance initiatives in India.

FICCI along with Ernst & Young, will be giving its recommendation to the Government of Tamilnadu based on the proceeding of the 2 days conference. Seminars across Tamilnadu are being planned to mobilize more people & equip them by for sensitizing Govt. & Citizen for eGovernance. Mr. Arun also informed that CeTIT 2010 will be held on Jul 1st & 2nd 2010.
