Tamil Nadu IT Secretary Visits SPEL |

On invitation by Mr. Ar Rm Arun, Vice Chairman SPEL
Semiconductor, Dr. C. Chandramouli, IAS, Secretary to Government of
Tamil Nadu – IT Department visited SPEL along with Mr. Arun on Jul 11,
2007. |

Dr. Chandramouli was given a presentation on the
company by Mr. Badri Narayan, Sr. Manager Manufacturing. In a discussion
that followed, Dr. Chandramouli appreciated the contribution that SPEL
has made to the industry over the last 2 decades. He lauded the efforts
taken by SPEL in representing the state and the country in the Global
Semiconductor Manufacturing space. He emphasized the need for growth in
these sectors and look forward to SPEL spearheading the process. He also
enquired about the areas of improvement that will assist in the
industry’s growth. |

This was followed by Dr. Chandramouli’s visit to the
assembly & Test floors, accompanied by Mr. P Balamurgan GM Engineering.
Dr. Chandramouli took a keen interest in knowing the process while
witnessing the Assembly & Test Process in real time. Taking much
interest, he interacted with the staff on the various aspects of
engineering requirements to handle the highly specialized equipment. He
was also shown the new LMP line installed at SPEL, as well as the Lead
Free Process which he was pleased to see. |

Dr. Chandramouli completed his visit with a
discussion on the future plans of the company, especially with regards
to the SEZ which has been recently approved by the Union Government. Mr.
N. Sivashanmugam, CFO presented the growth plans and the infrastructure
assistance from the Government. He also emphasized SPEL’s commitment to
developing the Electronic Hardware Manufacturing within Tamil Nadu. |

SPEL is appreciative of Dr. Chandramouli’s efforts,
commitment and the constant encouragement to the development of the IT
industry in Tamil Nadu. SPEL is also encouraged by the pro-industry
measures adopted by the State & Central Governments which is boosting
India’s overall economic growth. |
