“SPEL SEZ” gets formal approval |

SPEL Semiconductor Limited has got
formal approval from India’s Central Government for its proposed “SPEL
SEZ” (Special Economic Zone) in Chennai. This much awaited approval with
support from the Central & State Governments, will enable SPEL to move
forward towards developing the eco-system within the region. |

|
SPEL submitted its application in Oct
2006. The same was studied and recommended by the TamilNadu State
Government in Dec 2006. Based on the various policy amendments, a
special Board of Approval (BoA) for SEZs gave its approval for SPEL SEZ
on Jun 5, 2007. |

SPEL, currently on
growth mode, has considerably increased its attractiveness with an
investment of $2.2 Million in Feb 2007 and another $5.5 Million in Apr
2007. These investments have been focused on expanding SPEL’s existing
package lines. The Financial Year 2006-07 saw SPEL gain tremendous
momentum which was reflected not only in its increased sales & revenues
but also in new Customers, Partners & new business opportunities. |
