Mr. Ar Rm Arun was invited to speak at the
India Japan Business Council organized by FICCI on Feb 14,20 07 at FICCI
Headquarters - Federation House, New Delhi. |

Asked to speak about Manufacturing and
The HR Factor in India, he presented the trends in manufacturing, its
challenges and achievements. The second half of his presentation dwelt
upon the concerns of Human Resources within the manufacturing arena. Mr.
Arun listed the concerns as the Industry Supportive Education, Values
driven Industry, Conducive environment for Innovation and Industry
Specific Regulations. |

He emphasized the need for academia to
work closely with industry to provide ready resource. Values, he said
was vital to growth and he proposed that values education to begin at
the primary school level. He presented suggestions for the Japanese
delegation on various ways of be involved in speeding up the innovation
process in India. He made special mention of the need for Lean
Manufacturing & Continuous KAIZEN, which are proven Japanese
manufacturing methodologies. He invited Knowledge sharing of Japanese
World Class Manufacturing including TQM |

Speaking on the regulatory mechanism
in the country Mr. Arun state that the need of the hour was to move
industry into Rural India because the natural transition from
Agriculture to Manufacturing. He cautioned that while development of
rural India was important, we must be careful to protect & encourage
cottage industries. |

Concluding his presentation Mr. Arun
listed out the various opportunities in India that Japan can pursue.
India is a good manufacturing base and Japan should consider India along
with China. The vast English speaking workforce, growing resource pool
of technical talent and the emergence of India as an Auto Manufacturing
Hub were some of the pointers he gave for the Japanese Delegation. |
