Mr. Ar Rm Arun, Co-Chairman of FICCI’s India-Taiwan Business Cooperation Committee, met the 36-member trade delegation from the Taiwan Importers & Exporters Chamber of Commerce (TIECC) on Dec 21, 2006 at Federation House, Tansen Marg, New Delhi. The delegation was led by Mr. Lin Chin-Chao, Chairman, TIECC.

Speaking at the business meeting organized by FICCI, Mr. Arun delivered the welcome address. He gave a brief introduction about India, its current economic trends, the growing Services & Manufacturing industry and the potential available for Trade with Taiwan.

Referring to his recent visit to Taiwan along with the FICCI Business Cooperation Committee, he mentioned that there was a growing interest within Taiwan to associate significantly with India in areas such as Trade, Manufacturing & Investments. Some of the Taiwanese Research Organizations such as ITRI and III are certainly a power house of information that India as a country looks forward to associating with.

He also talked briefly about the initiatives taken by the Government of India to promote the emerging Electronics Hardware Manufacturing industry. Giving an overview of the industrial climate within India, he described the benefits of India’s Special Economic Zones as well as opportunities in Pharma & Healthcare, the booming Retail segment and the open environment for FDI.
