A workshop on Fire fighting, First Aid and Emergency Preparedness was conducted at SPEL Semiconductor Limited, Maraimalai Nagar on 13th Nov 06 by the Tamilnadu Fire Service – Fire Protection Wing, Kancheepuram.

Mr Chandran, Asst. Div. Fire Officer, Fire Protection Wing, Kancheepuram briefed about the workshop like various types of fire and its extinguishing methods.

Mr Ramasamy, Asst. Div. Fire Officer, General, Kancheepuram and Mr Johnson Inbadoss, Fire Protection Wing demonstrated fire fighting with various types of extinguishers using DCP (Dry chemical powder), CO2 (Carbon-di-oxide) foam, water and sand.

Mr Chandrababu, Fire Protection Wing, Kancheepuram demonstrated how to evacuate people from multi storey building by chair knot method using rope.

Mr Venugopal, Fire Protection Wing, Kancheepuram and Mr V Subbiah, Lead Fire Man, MM Nagar explained and demonstrated how to escape amidst of smoke.

In all the above programmes, SPEL employees participated in the demonstrations. About 100 employees and 15 Fire service personnel participated in the programme.
