Ltd. hosted a high power delegation from Taiwan along with the Southern
India Chamber of Commerce & Industry ( SICCI ) |
|
|
|
The delegation was
visiting India and spent a day in Chennai on Aug 9, 2006. A Breakfast
meeting with the Industry captains was a good start to the day. There
were around 45 participants particularly those representing Electronics
Hardware Manufacturing. Mr. Shaktikanta Das, IAS Secretary to Government
of TamilNadu Industries Department was the Chief Guest. |

Mr. Ar Rm Arun, Vice
Chairman, SPEL initiated the proceedings with a theme address. As
chairman of technology committee, SICCI, he listed out various ways
India & Taiwan can improve the bilateral trade and relations. The small
and medium enterprises of the two countries should establish links in
training, besides technical collaboration, said AR Arun, |

After a detailed
presentation by Mr. Rajaram , Special Secretary, Government of TamilNadu
Industries Department, Mr. Shaktikanta Das addressed the audience and
the delegation. He said the state government was planning to execute an
elevated corridor project and a metro rail project besides creating
satellite towns to address infrastructural bottlenecks. On the concerns
expressed by the delegation with regard to investing in Tamil Nadu, he
said the rate structure & taxation would stabilize after implementation
of VAT next year. |

Dr Chi Su, leader of
the Taiwanese delegation said that cultural exchanges had to begin
between the two countries, which will complement trade and investment.
There was a presentation by Mr. Steve Hsieh, Director Department of
Technology & Economy Taiwan and a special address by Legislator Hua-Ming
Shuai. |
